  • In the early video games, creatures such as Fire Venereal, Fire Home Salamanders (which are canonically small-scale, non-aggressive lizards) and Streelers are covered in Defense Against the Nighttime Arts classes. However, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Observe Them confirms that these creatures are not dark creatures, nor very dangerous, and Burn down Crabs (a highly protected species) and Streelers (domesticated as pets) are in fact taught and handled in Care of Magical Creatures instead, pregnant their inclusion on the Defense force Against the Dark Arts curriculum is non canon. Several games also depict gnomes as being covered in the course, which seems rather odd considering they are simply harmless (albeit annoying) garden pests, and are not considered dark or unsafe.
  • Also in the early video games, spells such equally the Softening Amuse or Seize and pull charm are taught in this course, despite these spells seemingly not having whatsoever defensive or offensive qualities. It is probable these spells were taught in this class purely for game-play reasons.
  • In LEGO Harry Potter: Years i-iv, in Gilderoy Lockhart's first Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson, Lockhart teaches his students the Freezing Amuse for combating Pixies.[83] Notwithstanding, this lesson cannot be considered canon, since it fundamentally contrasts this lesson's delineation in the second volume.
